06/13/2015 - Little Free Library

The AIA Kansas City Pillars (active and alumni) recently competed in a Little Free Libraries Challenge.  The teams were tasked with building a new Little Free Library to be installed in the Urban Neighborhood Initiative (UNI) area.  At the end of day on May 27th the build came to an end and the eight new structures were revealed.

A big thank you to our Jury:

Congressman Emmanuel Cleaver
Scott Hall, Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce
Steve Paul, The Kansas City Star
Michael Coats, AIA Kansas City Board Director
Aisha Safir, UNI
Props to our team, our library won the people’s choice award!

The winning structure was named Larenz’s Little Library, presumably after the kid who’s drawing inspired the design.
