It’s always tricky for me when a client says: “Just do your thing”, on a job. A lot of the times that means the exact opposite.
This time around Pigpen and Pat Maine really meant it. I combined their images with some of my work from the red, black and white series i started last year. This is what we agreed on below. Be sure to check out their music as well. They have this care-free early 90′s kinda vibe that i dig. Good boom bap beats and nothing too preachy or emo.

I stopped DJing at Nara in August after a good two year stint. I am back at Nara now to feature my artwork for the month of December. My art will be hanging in the main restaurant, so when you come in for dinner or a late night drink take a lap around the place and you’ll be able to see the whole show.

New backyard paintings

Here are two panels that i painted. These are 18×24 inches and about a 1/4 of an inch thick. I started with a simple color field with spray paint and then started masking off areas with black photo tape. Over top of the tape i did a layer of paint and removed the tape after a short drying time. I almost like the photo tape versions of these better than the final version with the tape removed. That’s what these test panels are about though. Trying ish out and seeing what happens. I am planning on doing a few more freestlye pieces like this that take less than a day to make. I’ll keep posting new paintings when they are done.

Sikenomics “Take One” box

Last week I relocated one of my custom “take one” boxes to the corner of 39th and Bell street in front of Prosperos book store. Inside the box you’ll find a mini zine, stickers, paper toys or any other free goodies i stash within. I hope to switch up the content every month but we’ll see how this experiment works. Haha.
